Young American males and females are at risk of losing their lives every day due to gun violence. Youths are our future and if youths are not saved, our society will not have a future. American society contains many prevailing problems that result in gun violence. Gun violence deals with guns that mostly conclude in death according to the media and individuals who have been faced with these dilemmas and complications that are in effect growing up many youth have stated. Youths in America are afraid of life because of the senseless gun violence that occurs almost every day in urban neighborhoods where many domiciles are located. A famous quote that states “DON’T SHOOT, I WANT TO GROW UP” is an essential weapon to use towards the individuals who are out here heartless and careless about the mistakes they make in the society Americans live in. I am an African American male who have encounter many obstacles with gun violence that happened to me or someone close to me and the problem was hard to deal with because it happened more than once. I also live in the center of the “ghetto” where gun violence happen every day and we as an American society have to find strategies and put effort to reduce the enormous amount of gun violence in the United States of America. The reason why youths are at high risk of being victims of gun violence because Americans youth lives on this terrestrial construct we call earth where peer pressure is on the rise daily. American youth are prone to be victims of gun violence due to gang affiliation, lack of education (dropout), and unemployment rate in which is at an unacceptable level.
Researchers believe that gang affiliation results due to gun violence in America. According to a news article recently updated it states that “there are 10% of American youths in gangs and 14-30% gang population has reached across many urban areas because of drugs and alcohol and because of low income, poverty affected communities, and lack of support from one another(McDaniel, 2011).” Another author states that “every two hours in America today a youth dies of a gunshot wound because of senseless gun violence and gang affiliation and has spreaded across this entire nation (Tsou, 1997).” According to Arizona State University one researcher states that “gang affiliation is the essential reason in why the incarceration rate is at an unacceptable rate because of the misconduct in individuals in the American society based on prior criminal history recently updated(Griffin, 2012).” This is very important because when other youths see the high rate of gang affiliation, youths accumulates thoughts that there is some good in joining according to statistics. The American society is losing their youths every day and we must take a stance to reduce the high rate of gang affiliation because they are our next generation and basically just because they just deserves to achieve the American Dream and live happily ever after. This evidence that’s proven is excessively too high and gang affiliation must cease right now so other youths can see that is useless. Gang affiliation increases daily and we as an organized committee should all help each other out in times such as these where help is much needed and required to the success of individuals and the American society as a whole. This is very crucial because I want to live in a society where I don’t have to worry about being a victim of gun violence because at that time the American society has lost another “soldier “on earth. Researchers acknowledge the fact that the lack of education results to gun violence in America. According to Fields, “the dropout rate in America increases the threat to the country’s strength and prosperity and that half of high school students are graduating from a four year plan but however it has decline as the years expand (Fields, 2008).” Also, according to Swanson, he states that “1.3 million students will fail to graduate without a sufficient high school diploma and that males are at a much higher risk of dropping out of school due to gangs and misconduct in society which leads to gun violence in America(Swanson, 2010).” This evidence is very crucial because the dropout rate should be 0% because youths are the next generation of doctors, lawyers, judges and etc. but if they are dropping out its impossible to succeed.
Researchers also believe that the unemployment rate could lead to gun violence in America predominately in urban neighborhoods where poverty is on the rise daily as well as gun violence. According to Alan she states “that because of the current recession job destruction and job creation unemployment rate has increase which will soon lead to gun violence because of individuals trying to find ways to support their family in times when it’s hard to get employed (Aronoff, 2010).” Another article I came in contact with was the Obama article where they states that over “100 million Americans are unemployed or otherwise they just are not working and the rate has increased to 11 %( Forbes, 2012).” This evidence is very important to our understanding of why gun violence is in effect because this occurs every day and if the American society doesn’t target politics and other organization; our society will be in denial of success. The only feasible decision to decrease the unemployment rate is to cut interest rates, and income tax to encourage spending.
In conclusion, researchers believe that unemployment, lack of education, and gang affiliation result into gun violence because families across the nation to find strategized advantages to make income. The lack of gun control in America needs to be targeted as well.
